I'm Now A Food Blogger

You know I don't usually post recipes, but what I like to do is keep this blog fresh.  Keep you on your toes.  What will Landee do next?  You just don't know.  Today I am doing something CRAZY and posting a recipe.  So there.

Mother of Stands casually mentioned this recipe she had seen on her SIL's Facebook.  Pumpkin Crunch, you say?  My ears perked up and my back straightened slightly.  There may have even been a raising of the eyebrow, not sure.  Sounded delicious.  Just from the title.  So I quickly copied it down in my handy-dandy Family Organizer and went about my business.  "My business" being heading straight to the grocery store to get the ingredients for this and then going home and making it.

It's a fancy (and EASY) twist on the ole fall favorite, pumpkin pie.  I'm not a huge fan of pumpkin pie myself.  I'd much rather have some banana cream.  But this, THIS, my friends, will be added to the Thanksgiving feast.  And will probably be made weekly from about mid-September to the end of November.  It's my new "Fall Is Officially Here" treat.

PUMPKIN CRUNCH

1 15oz. can pumpkin
1 12oz. can evaporated milk
1 1/2 C. sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 t. cinnamon

Combine above ingredients and pour into greased 9x13 pan.

1 Yellow Cake Mix
1 C. melted butter

Sprinkle cake mix on top of pumpkin mixture and pour melted butter over top.

Bake at 350 for 1 hour and 10 minutes.

This is what it will look like fresh out of the oven.

Your house will smell amazing and the second you taste it you will realize, fall is officially here.

I knew you'd appreciate that, Gloria. And you'll probably be the only one!

PS I'm making your mom's roll recipe RIGHT NOW.

I'm officially not cooking this year. No thanksgiving and no christmas cooking.

That being said if you make this next time I see you I won't refuse to partake. I happen to heart me a homemade (by my mom) pumpkin pie so I'm sure this would be an instant bueno.

I love this recipe! I have the exact same one and we call it pumpkin cobbler. So yummy! I agree, it definitely means fall is here.

I don't see how this could be good- all that butter and sugar? I don't see how it could be good. <--sarcasm

Jana... um, it's good because of the butter & sugar. How can you not see that? The more butter & sugar, the better. I'm surprised you don't understand that. <---sarcasm

Kelli: Pumpkin Cobbler...mmmmmmm. I like that title too. It's more indicative of what it is, for sure. I may be making another one tonight. I have a hankering.

Memzy: ::insert Debbie Downer noise here:: Geez. You really know how to join into the party. And, btw, this takes 7 minutes to put together then you throw it in the oven. It's not just for Thanksgiving, doyee. Make it this weekend. Your family will love you for it.

Hey, we should open a T-shirt shop and write a novel together.

I must say, I'm interested in trying this new recipe even though I'm not sure it can surpass the #1 pumpkin pie recipe by Gramma Decker. Having said that--apples and oranges. Different dessert with similar ingredients making my mouth water right now. I will buy the ingredients tomorrow and make it this weekend for Memzy to comfort her as she returns from the Las Vegas Regnar Race. I look forward to the VIDEO and PHOTOS upon her return. I'm thinking Jespy and company might be in some of those photos? Yah?

This dish is not here to compete with pumpkin pie. No need to be feeling cautious about trying it or feeling like you're being unfaithful to an old family recipe that is apparently to die for though I've never even heard of it. No no no. This is completely different. And way easier.

Jenny: What should we name it? And 52% done.

a) Instant Imprints, Duh. IID if you wanna save on keystrokes.

b) We're actually 69% done. That's if we go for 80K. But I think we could have a finished product at 60K. Still average. Which means we're 92% done. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! K.

Sounds yummers.

Envious of your polish pottery baking pan. I have some polish pottery, but nothing that large yet.

I'm glad I creep on your blog because Mother of Stands forgot to share this delicious recipe with her own sister! For shame!

Headed to the store...stat!
