Self Explanatory Christmas Post

We do the usual stuff, people, so I won't bore you with the details. You can add your own commentary if you want. I will interject here & there but otherwise ::doing the zip my lips & throw away the key thing::

My bro's in-laws live about 20 minutes away and they are nice enough to invite us over for Christmas Eve when my bro & his family are in town. We re-created the Nativity. Tbone: shepherd. JBird: Joseph. Minnie (my niece, not her real name, of course): Mary. Beebs: Angel (wearing my SIL's wedding veil). Chubberz (my nephew, real name jaykay): a sheep.

Christmas Eve gift from Grandma Milly--- jammies!!

Traditional Christmas morning on the stairs photo. I agree with Memzy. I really need to post more pics of me at 7am.

Santa is clever & wraps all his stuff in red & white stripe paper.

What's in all those tubes?
Princesses, fer duh.

If Playdough is the Spawn of Satan, then Moonsand is the Debbil himself.

Beebs in her new "dress-ups"

My fave thing we did this year was to make it simple & kid-friendly. I mean, it's THEIR day really so why was I forcing them to eat ham & potatoes & festive salads that they didn't like? This year we did Digiorno's and I sense a tradition brewing. They LOVED it. And so did I. No slaving in the kitchen and no complaining. I think to make it a leeeetle more special, next year I'll probably make the dough & we'll make our own little individual pizzas. We then forced ourselves to shower around 4pm and went and saw Bolt. Hilarious movie.

Some Christmas Music Observations By Tbone:

(while listening to "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus"): Is this a true story???

I then realized how warped that song is. I mean either you gotta say, it's not Santa, it's the Dad, really (which is lame) or, as the lyrics say, "if Daddy had only seen"... and "hope Daddy didn't see".... it's creepy, you gize. Between that and "Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer" I think we give Christmas song writers waaaay too much leeway.

(while listening to "Feliz Navidad"): Why isn't the whole song in Spanish?

Great point by the Tbone.

Finally. I was dying to see your gizes Christmas pix. Very similar to ours, but with different kids. We don't do Christmas dinner. Never have. We just eat the stuff that was in our stockings all day.

Yes. Yes. Moon Sand. It doesn't follow ANY of it's claims. It like colored beach sand. Sticky and never works right. I'm so glad that Tbone has the "smiling disease" like Char. It's comforting to me. And pizza sound like my new fave tradish. That and IHOP for Thanksgiving.

ps. that is so nice that you took Jbird into the bathroom to spike his hurr up before he got to see Santa's gifts.

Adorable kiddies! I cringe every time my kids want to play with the moon sand. I purposely hide it up high and hope they forget about it. Curses to the moon sand!

Moonsand can bite me. Srsly. It may or may not have already found itself in the garbage. I can't confirm or deny.

And Memz, we have some wicked awesome hurr gel... that was left over from his Christmas Eve do. Srsly!

JESP, I thought your kids just got paperclips & bandaids in their stockings.

Tiffers, The kids in their church clothes was so cute it was painful. And it was so fun to see Nathan's kiddos. Their Christmas card announced baby #3 and we were all like. . . did you know?. . . did you know? I didn't know. Pizza for Christmas dinner is awesome---as was our pancakes and bacon. It seems you can only do this with small groups. If you had the whole extended family they might not go for pizza or pancakes, but then if they don't like it they don't have to come now do they?

Kid #3 for the HBSrs? Wow! And TBone is super smart about the songs. I only recently noticed myself how repetitive and boring feliz navidad is so why is it so stinking popular?

About the moon sand, I too experienced the little known evil back in Nov. during Tuck's B-Day. Hate the stuff. We gave the friend who gifted that to him finger paint for his B-Day.

As for "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus", I didn't realize how wrong that song was for little tikes till I had my Children's Performing group singing it for there Christmas program and they kept asking me to explain the meaning of the song, huh?

You deserve the mother-of-the-year award for even doing the moon sand thing.

Seriously.

We ate leftovers, so DiGiorno was totally a step above us. We did get invited later to help some friends eat their (much better) leftovers.

My personal hell will be that "Feliz Navidad" song played over and over.....aargh!

OH, and CUUUUTE kids, btw.

You should send that post to Homes and Gardens or something...your presents looked delicious, BTW! I don't know if it was the jammies picture or the sitting on the stairs, but I think I have a little of your family's cuteness stuck in my teeth. I am going to recreate it for my kids next year. Minus the moon sand. My kids had it for a day before it became an outside toy, luckily they had a moon sand fight, and that was it.
