Camp: Not For the Wussy Leader

Does this answer your question regarding the running water at camp?

Yeeeeah, there was none. I didn't poo for 3 days. They call these things the "BIFFY." It stood for "Bathroom In Forest For You." The worst was when a biffy was declared "full." SICK.

Here I am on day one (with two of the other leaders who I heart heart heart--YW pres on left, 2nd counselor on right).

And here is what I was sporting by day three of no showers. I called it Lesbian Chic (not to the girls, no no, that would be inappropriate. Just to myself).

And a smattering of pics so you can see the adorableness that is my girls.

That one there in the striped shirt up there is the mother of the other two (plus 4 more at home). She was the ward camp director and made it so much fun for everyone.

So here is one of our 4th year girls "breaking her board." The 4th years here go on a two day hike... TWO DAYS! They carry their own tents and food and everything. I think I once went on an over-nighter but that was it. While they were on their hike they wrote their fears on one side of the board and dreams/goals on the other. Then, when they finally made it to camp, they all took turns breaking their boards on the fear side. I was thinking it was going to be way cheesy but it was actually quite exciting to see these girls break them. The best part was when the 4th years came into camp, everyone else lined this little dirt road and it was like a freaking celebration/parade. Super fun.

I went on the 3rd year hike, myself. It was probably about 4 miles or so. It helped get the bowels moving anyway. I know you're happy you know that.

All in all it was a fabulous week. I loved every second of it. I can't wait to go again next year. I got to goof around and act like a 15 year old again. Plus we had three non-member girls with us which made it really neat. It was the perfect mix of spirituality and fun---like EFY, but with no showers, dances, boys and John Bytheway.

PS If we are friends on Facebook & you're interested you can see my ginormous album I uploaded of most of the pictures I took at camp. The girls are getting busy tagging themselves.

Girls camp is the best.

You were looking a bit too clean for three days with no shower.

I would call your lesbo look more of a Sturgis biker-chic look.
I admire the full week sticking it out too, camping is not for the faint of heart. Knowing how fun you are and how well you handled life without running water, I think you might have just signed yourself up for camp director next year.

I think you look good as a lesbian. I mean, if I were gay, I would totally hit on you.

Girls camp. Some of the best memories of my life. The only bad part was "holding it" the whole time, or until I jumped into the lake.

It appears you have some of your Gramma Deckers "camping genes". Congrats on a successful week. Did your dad ever tell you about our camping trips? My mom used to make sourdough pancakes and porkchops over an open fire for BREAKFAST. I'm tearing up just thinking about it.

Why does sourdough pancakes and porkchops for breakfast while camping sound SO GOOD??? I wouldn't have pooed the whole time either. Blech! I tried not to cry the night I got up there and realized just how sad I was that I didn't get to go the whole time. And, I looked at every single pic you posted on fb. I'll pick up my brownie button later.

I can hold it for over a week if I don't have my own toilet. Gross and doesn't make you feel good, but, seriously. Outhouses are yucky!

I got constipated just reading this. Glad you made it home safe and didn't get sat on by any bears.
