Labor Day Festivities

Although I have no idea what Labor Day is all about, we took full advantage of the day out of school & headed for the mountains with our friends, Kurt & Heidi and their four kids. We went up to Winter Park, CO for some end-of-summer fun. Ski resort by winter, summer hot spot by summer, Winter Park did not disappoint! Although I knew it wouldn't because this is where we had Youth Conference a couple of months ago, but still, it didn't disappoint...again!

Oh wait. Five minutes after we got TBone's scooter out of the back of the car and...

It's even worse than you might be thinking...

We almost tried to drive around and find a hospital to stitch him up but then we figured a ski resort has to have some kind of first-aid place so we headed to the village and found what we were looking for. They have a full on little clinic there for occasions such as ours.

TBone was in better spirits once we got there & he realized he was going to live.

Photobucket

Wait, until they actually started touching & cleaning it and stuff. He no likey.

Photobucket

We had to wait a while because, as you can see, they were sooooooooper busy that day...

Photobucket

...so luckily they had one of those MAGIC EYE 3D books to look at. You know those ones that were hugely popular about 10 years ago where you blur your eyes and then bring them back into focus and suddenly the pic is all 3D and exploding off the page?? So Gty laid down with TBone and tried to show him how to do it.... I swear, it's one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Gty BUGS his eyes out to make it work. I cried laughing and almost peed myself. Srsly. This pic does not do it justice.

Photobucket

He does get it to work every time though, which is more than I can say for myself.

And then the doc came in for the sewing portion of the day...

Photobucket

He is the quintessential ski bum doc if you ask me. Probably a snow boarder actually. He was good with TBone though and didn't mind the silliness as much as another doctor might.

And he got the job done lickity-split.

Photobucket

I'll now post some pics of our ACTUAL fun with no commentary because, for the most part, they are ridiculously self explanatory.

Okay what did the "busy" clinic think of you taking pictures of your son in pain? Do you think they were like, oh another blogger?

Also 3-D eye books? From that pic on down it looked like wayyy fun- and you look super beautiful with your little beebs going down that sled-looking thing.

Tony and I have paid a visit to that very clinic when Tony broke his collar bone last year on the second trip up of the season. Total bummer. WP is seriously my favorite place! My parents had a cabin up there while I was growing up. Fun times in winter and summer. Great pics of such cute families!

I don't know what the crap RYC means, but yeah... the sunken boat! Yikes! Then the jet ski would dump us and circle like a shark WITH the boat lurking below. I do believe you taught me and my little sister a few cheerleading skills that week. Ugh. Check out her blog... she just had her first baby. http://www.walkerlove.blogspot.com/

Fun trip! How long did it take you to upload all of those pics? Hours/mintutes? I have picture trouble.

Is this the same place that you took me to last June? Niiiice. I rawked that trampoline thingy. Poor Tbone. I have yet to take a kid to the ER for stitches ::knocking on fake wood computer desk::

And srsly about taking pictures during the stitch up. That doc was like, "totally a BLOGGER". ::giggle::

The clinic was obviously too frazzled with injuries that day to even notice I was taking pictures. JayKay. They thought it was funny. And inside they probably thought I was rude. But I needed those pictures. Needed.

Elisa, do they still have a cabin there??::hinthint::

Different place, Memz, but same idea. You went to Copper Mountain which has no alpine slide ::frowny face::

It took minutes to upload these pics, Jill. I upload them all to Photobucket and then cut & paste in the html code it gives me for them. Photobucket is fairly quick.

I have yet to take a kid to the ER for stitches either, but I have taken them to Wal*mart to grab some super glue and then glued their wound shut in the parking lot. Love that picture of Gty enjoying the book. Doesn't look like he's sharing though.

That slide thing looked super cool. Gorgeous family!

Looking at these pictures was so fun for Shane and I. BTW, Jerry (not the mouse) is looking good, as are you, as usual! Hoping for a visit from the Anderson's in Tucson, AZ!!

Poor Tanner! This brings back waaaay too many memories. Kevin (too many crash and burns to number) Nick--slicing open his chin at Bil and Leah's the very first time we ever left our kids. Emily splitting her head open on the sidewalk--broken foot that Mom didn't believe for the first 3 days (I still have guilt about that one). "Just walk it off, I'm sure it's OK". Becca torquing her ankle big time at BYU volleyball camp and I couldn't get to her. Again, Kevin breaking his nose in Rugby at BYU and having suregy--again without Mom there. Again, Kevin ripping his shoulder in Rugby. I have to stop now. The good hews: they all came out fine! :)
